Happy New Year – J/70 Enthusiasts!
At last count we had over 20 people involved in our pre-release program.
Last week JBoats started to release pricing details and a production schedule.
The base price is 39,850 FOB Bristol RI. There will be a fleet price at $44,900 that will include a set of sails from a leading sailmaker and a trailer. To keep it simple, there are no options available at this time.
US production will be by CCF who is currently making the J111 and J 95. The delivery for customer boats are scheduled to begin in late spring and early summer with 100 boat total production for the year 2012. At this time it looks like NPYS will receive a demo boat in April followed by an initial order of 4 to 6 boats in early summer. The balance of our initial customer orders will be delivered in the fall.
The payment schedule is as follows:
- Deposits are $3,000 for a confirmed reservation.
This deposit is refundable up to the point of molding.
- Prior to the actual molding of your boat an additional $10,000 deposit will be required.
- The balance will be due prior to shipping from RI.
In order to direct as many deliveries to Annapolis as possible, we want to get our orders in to Jboats quickly. I would advise a $3,000 deposit towards the fleet purchase price and a commitment for an Annapolis delivery to start, then participation in at least 1 one design event to kick off the class. We will be working down the list of Pre-Release customers before accepting additional outside orders.
