This new Doug Zurn design is the easiest to handle and most fuel-efficient passagemaker of its size. Boarding through side-opening doors onto the same level as floating docks or a dinghy, couldn’t be easier. For all-weather versatility, the pilothouse features roll-up curtains, fully-opening windshields and air conditioning. The spacious, two-cabin layout below and comfortable on-deck seating compare favorable to much larger yachts.

Computerized Joystick Control
The magic of the 40z single joystick control for low-speed maneuvering amazes the best of professional captains. Twin 370-HP diesel sterndrives are independently operated by computer for direction, forward-reverse gear and rpm. Sterndrives have 3 bid advantages: They kick-up on impact… or for clearing of props… and for shoal draft operation.

Unsurpassed Fuel Efficiency
Your fuel bill will be halved thanks to very strong but light, pre-preg epoxy/Kevlar/Eglasss/Corecell construction. The 40z provides 21 gallons per hour at 25 knots, or 1.2 nautical miles per gallon with optional twin 370 hp Volvo D6 diesels and IPS DuoProp 500 drives. By way of comparison: Power & Motor Yacht Magazine boat tests show the Sea Ray Sundancer 40 consumes 29 gph (.86 nmpg) at that speed, while a Cabo 40 or East Bay 45 consumes 37 gph (.68 nmpg). At $3/gal, that’s $1,110 on a 10-hour trip instead of the 40z's $630. Close to home, you’ll average 4-6 gallons per hour on fill-up… just $15 per hour of general use. That's quite remarkable for a powerboat of this size. The 40z carries 350 US Gallons of fuel.

40z Reviews
- Maine Boats, Homes, and Harbors
"Jaguar, the famous maker of British sporting sedans, built its cars to display “grace, space and pace.” After that memorable winter boat ride in Boston Harbor, I’d wager that if Jaguar built yachts, they’d come out like the 40z."
- Yacht Magazine - MJM 40z Review
"Response to steering input is immediate and accurate, and maneuvering in close quarters is as free of drama as you can get. The IPS joystick control is idiot- proof. To further reduce the pains of docking or anchoring, the spring cleat on the starboard side is within easy reach of the helm, so one can lasso the cleat on the float without leaving the house. Want to anchor? Pushing a button at the helm deploys the ground tackle without any other human intervention."
