Boating stabilizers may seem new to much of the boating public, but the reality is that long range or blue water powerboats have utilized stabilizer fins for a long time. Only in the past few years have the newer Gyro style stabilizers become available to recreational boaters of all types. The gyro stabilization that most of us know about, Seakeeper, was formed in 2001 in a small basement in Maryland, with its first prototype not hitting the water until 2006. In 2013 Seakeeper shipped its 1000th unit, which shows you just how small the niche was before they revolutionized the market. Through its growth and industry takeover, Seakeeper now produces thousands of units a year, with 14 different sizes of stabilizers to fit nearly any boat.
