Truely a classic Chesapeake Bay Fishing Boat. "Moondance" was totally restored to First Class condition by a true craftsman who has a personal connection with the boat. When he was growing up this was the boat he spent many hour with family and friends and the recent restoration was complete. Lovingly maintained by its current owners, the boat has been on display at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's (in St, Michaels, Md) Antique and Classic Boat Festival. The O'Neill Jones look is easily recognized by most of the local fishing crowd that grew up fishing on the Chesapeake. The boat is extremely well laid out and sets a very high standard for charter boat fishing in the 60's and 70's.
You do not have to enjoy fishing to appreciate having this boat. It has a very open covered cockpit which is ideal for a couple and can easily handle 10 to 12 people for an afternoon/evening cruise or a family trip to Solomon's Island.
This boat is not a fixer upper. It is in excellent condition and ready for you to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for you to own a piece of Chesapeake Bay history and truely enjoy the pleasures of being on the water.

Going down the companionway be sure to notice the panel inthe doorway which can drop down to allow extra ventillation below. The lay out is simple with a seating area and table to port. The head to starboard and the Galley just forward of that. There is a counter area just forward of the galley and a hanging locker underneath. opposite the hanging locker is the Norcold refrigerator under the counter space on port.
There are 2 pipe vee berths all the way forward over the vee berth which has an insert to make it a large double bed. Vertical clearance is about 6' 1".The head is a self contained unit with a pump out hose connected to the base. There is a single ss sink with hot/cold fauset and mirror.
Walk Through Cockpit and Helm Station
Getting aboard "Moondance" from either starboard or port side is easy with lots of handholds and a wide enough deck to be sure footed. With a portable step stool in the cockpit 2 steps down and you are on board and ready to go. On the starboard side of the cockpit is the aft steering station with gear shift and throttle mounted at the right height and a steering post to turn the boat in the direction you want to go.
3 Benches surround the perimeter of the cockpit for comfortable seating of 8 to 10 people. The solid wood hard top covers most of the cockpit but there is still plenty of room for the sunbather or fisherman to find their spot in the sun out from under the hard top. By the way there is a nice wood bracket on the underside of the roof for storing 8 rods while they are not in use. There is also a dome light attached aft on the hard top for evening or after dark events.
The helm seat and companion seat are large enough for two people and the right height for excellent visibility. The single engine box is just aft and between the helm seat and companion seat with plenty of soundproofing to supress the engine noise. The gauges at the helm station are simple. The depth, engine temp, rpms, oil pressure are all right there in front of the 6 spoked wheel. The ICOM VHF radio is conveniently mounted to starboard of the helm and the Danforth Compass is just forward of the helm. There is a 12 volt electric panel with switches to starboard of the helm and the shore power cord plugs in at the helm station as well.
In the cabinet under the helm is mounted the inverter charger and AC electric switches. Under the helm seat (port side of seat pedastal) are several drawers for fishing lures or other paraphinalia.
Under the companion seat is a window to view the fuel gauge in the fuel tank. Under the floor boards is easy access to the water tank, hot water heater, and batteries and battery switch.
Excellent ventillation is provided by three large opening windows forward and sliding side windows on both port and starboard. Windshield wipers are included on all three windows.
This is a Classic Chesapeake Bay fishing boat that has just become available for sale.
