Descriptions

General Description

The Nordic 40, like many Robert Perry designs, is a performance cruiser, combining a modern underbody with graceful and functional lines. It has a strong following in the cruising community and examples seldom come up in the brokerage market.

While Voyager could use some cosmetic improvements, her equipment and systems have benefited from a program of continuous upgrading and maintenance. For example, while replacing the engine's internal oil pump, the owners did a lower end overhaul: bearings, rings, seals, etc. Her working sails are currently at the sailmakers to prepare them for the next owner. The bottom was stripped and barrier coated in 2014.

Please note the many recent upgrades in the descriptions that follow.

Broker's Comments

This Nordic 40 should be on the short list for anyone seeking a modestly priced ocean sailing yacht. Her equipment had been carefully upgraded to ensure safe, fast passage making and the ability to anchor out for extensive periods thanks to her high output solar system and composting toilet. Seacocks and space for a holding tank remain should a subsequent owner wish to return to a conventional head and holding tank system, although the current owner has found the Nature's Head system to be preferable in many ways.

A new owner might want to invest some time into cosmetics, or just go sailing. She is perfectly positioned to access the east coast and the islands.
