Overview

Owner want her sold this year--bring offers!!  1986 Tartan 34-2 cruiser/racer designed by Sparkman & Stephens.  All interior and exterior teak was professionally refinished in October 2011.  Boat was detailed inside and out, too.  (See last set of photos taken on 11/7.)  A one-owner boat used in the Chesapeake Bay (brakish water).   This design is known for her show of speed, and good sailing manners.   She draws only 4'6" with her Scheel Keel.   The T-cockpit is laid out for easy handling whether cruising or racing around the buoys.  The mainsheet is in front of the wheel and pedestal, and the genoa winches can also be trimmed from the helm.  The Tartan 34-2 has a masthead rig with double spreaders.  The chainplates are well inboard for trimming to windward.  Inboard genoa tracks also make for pointing higher.  A baby stay prevents the mast from pumping,  A back stay adjuster and mast-mounted spinnaker pole are part of her equipment list.  A boom vang is also installed.

The Tartan 34-2 interior is nicely laid out. The interior teak joinery is abundant.  A teak and holly cabin sole is a nice touch.  There are berths for 6, and a private head with shower & vanity.  A well designed u-shaped galley is to stbd.  And to port is a sit-down navigation table, with a quarter berth aft.  Ventilation is excellent with 8 opening ports, and two deck hatches.  Headroom is about 6' 3".

Auxiliary power is from a 27 h.p. Yanmar 3GM--which is a nice upgrade from earlier Universal diesels.

Make plans to see "Tradition".  This is a great buy in a Tartan 34-2 designed by Sparkman & Stephens.  She is a great family boat or for the racer on a limited budget. ( Note:   last 40+ photos w/ lower case captions were taken on Sept 8, 2012.)
