Sims Whalen

Sims grew up in Cornelius, North Carolina, on the shores of Lake Norman, where his passion for the water began at an early age. Sims started racing dinghies and J/Boats, which sparked his interest in competitive sailing and ultimately led him into offshore racing. Over the years, Sims has competed both locally and internationally, gaining experience and a deep love for the sport. Spending time on both powerboats and sailboats throughout his childhood gave him a strong, well-rounded foundation in boating. That lifelong connection to the water is what ultimately brought Sims to Charleston, where he’s now a proud member of the College of Charleston Sailing Team.
